Supersize The Positive Energy
in Your Office

Make your office energy work for you. Give it a power surge. A professional face lift. And, while you're at it, create your own personal advisory board.

Go through your office and remove any photos, mementos, or documents of any kind that have negative associations. You know the ones. That photo that brings up thoughts of an unpleasant time, behavior or person. The one that where just looking at it can bring you down a notch or two. Or that business card you took from someone that you know you will never do business with because their personality simply turns you off. Or that book or CD you borrowed eons ago and forgot to return and now every time you look at it or touch it you feel guilty. No negative energy vampires allowed.

Now, look around your office. What would you like to invite in that would raise and encourage the energy and spirit of your office? Whose face would you love to see when you walked in the door each morning? Who brings you joy and puts a smile on your face? Now is the time to give your office that positive redo that you've wanted. Choose the photographs of friends, family, even mentors that encourage you. For instance, that photo of you and your friends out on the bluffs when you had that really great talk. It could be a past teacher, a favorite writer, TV personality, philosopher. And especially your partner who has your back at every turn. Any one that has given you support and encouragement currently or in the past. It could also be that great photograph of your youngest child, or grandchild in those adorable oversized floppy bunny ears that just makes you beam from ear to ear.

You could take this a step further and create your personal advisory board by dedicating a wall space to a collage of your personal super heroes. Your 4 or 5 top supporters. It could be your parents who love and believe in you, your sister, brother, co-worker or girlfriend that is your best friend on the planet, the one that would drop anything to pick up your spirits and give you a pep talk when you are down. Gather the photos of these special chosen few in one area of your wall or desk. These select few are your fan club, or advisory board. When ever you are at a major fork in the road, having to make a decision or just want some advise, go to these images, look them in the eye and ask your question, state your dilemma, pause and hear their voice. It may take a little practice at first but in time you will hear their reply. They will each give you their opinion. Listen to each and every one's comments and advice then feel which persons opinion reflects the one closest to your own gut feeling.

This is a wonderful uplifting tool. You are surrounded by memories of those that care about you, your well being and your future. The very image of these faces lifts you up and propel you forward in your hour to hour, day to day thoughts, words, decisions and actions. The bonus is you can also use them as your own personal advisory board.

I use this tool with my clients. They often will get photos of their 4 or 5 top supporters and glue or tape them into the inside cover of their journals. It can be really uplifting when you need it the most. Can't you just close your eyes and bring up a memory of someone across the country, in your past or that has past on and hear and feel their support? I have two Aunts, Elaine and Marilyn and my Mother that have past on and I see them together encouraging me, giving me huge smiles and just being my cheer leaders. It gives me a sense of warmth and love just thinking about it. My Dad, every time I talk to him long distance, cross country, always says in every conversation; ‘Hon, your doing great, keep up the good work, you're doing every thing right.’

I can hear it now, you behind closed doors, OK, Dad, Gandhi, Oprah, Aunt Diane, Lance here's the deal, today wouldn't it be great if . . . or, what do you think if . . . ?
